HOW TO GET INVOLVED

There are several opportunities for parents/guardians to get involved in.  Below are the site councils and organizations that meet regularly, as well as their meeting dates and times. 

We invite families to these meetings, to help join in on strengthening our school community!

 

School Site Council (SSC) - Plan, monitor and evaluate the activities and expenditures for programs operated at the school to improve student achievement.

Meeting Days & Times: 2^nd Tuesday each month, 4:00 pm, Zoom meeting

 

 

English Language Advisory Council (ELAC)

ELAC - Advise and assist in the development of the school English Learners program, based on the Master Plan for English Learners. 

 

Meeting Days & Times:  10/20/21, 11/17/21, 1/19/22, 3/16/22 8:30am, Zoom meeting

 

El Consejo Consultivo de Aprendices de Inglés de la Escuela (ELAC) tienen como fin el incrementar la capacidad de participación paterna, además mantiene a los padres informados de los programas y resultados, y sirven como una vía de comunicación.  Estos grupos trabajan en conjunto con el Consejo Escolar (SSC) otorgándole a los padres la oportunidad aportar a las decisiones que se toman a nivel de la escuela. 

Consejo Consultivo para Aprendices de Inglés del Distrito (DELAC), que se reúnen en la oficina del distrito mensualmente. Se anexa un calendario de reuniones. Todas las juntas son a puertas abiertas y cualquier padre puede asistir

El ELAC y sus contrapartes a nivel del distrito son vías fabulosas para que los padres y miembros de la comunidad de involucren e impacten positivamente las decisiones que se toman, tanto a nivel de la escuela como del distrito. Esperamos verles en estos eventos. 

 

Parent Teacher Group (PTG) - Come join our PTG! The Lorenzo Manor PTG uses proceeds to sponsor educational programs and activities throughout the school year. For more information, please contact Laura Melvin at [email protected].

FAMILY FRIDAY ASSEMBLIES 

 

 

A reminder to parents that we have our Family Fridays  the last Friday of each month, We start the day with our Schoolwide assembly on the blacktop. We invite you to come and join us on the playground at the start of school on these days. Then parents are invited to join their children in class for special activities. After, parents meet in the MPR for a presentation on interesting topics. 

 

Also, our parent bulletin and calendar is sent home with students monthly, usually on the First Friday of the month to keep you updated of events and important information. 

 

We believe strongly that parents are a child’s first teacher, and what you do at home sets the tone for how a child performs at school.  Please provide opportunities for your child to practice skills at home as well as a time and place for them do homework.  Plus, have your child read every night…it is critical to their reading success.  We also invite you to visit our school often and to volunteer to help when you can.
